Race series
Some races aren't one race. The Terry Fox Run happens in dozens of towns on the same Sunday; the Hypothermic Half moves across the country all winter. These are the 11 national series currently on the calendar — 158 events between them — each with every Canadian location on one page.
CIBC Run for the Cure
3310 provinces · all on October 4, 2026 · 5km, 1km
The largest single-day volunteer-led event in the country. Walkers and runners start together and the 1K exists so nobody gets left at the start line.
Terry Fox Run
3212 provinces · all on September 20, 2026 · 5km
The one nearly every Canadian has done at least once, usually in elementary school. No entry fee, no timing chips, no finish-line clock. You pick a distance and you go.
Santa Shuffle
209 provinces · all on December 5, 2026 · 5km
December, costumes, and an Elf Walk for anyone not interested in racing. One of the few events where showing up dressed as a reindeer is the normal choice.
Shoppers Drug Mart Run for Women
188 provinces · May 2, 2027 – June 19, 2027 · 5km, 10km, 1km
Spread across the spring rather than run on one shared day, so if you miss your city there is usually another within driving distance a week or two later.
Running Room New Year's Run
117 provinces · all on January 10, 2027 · 5km, 1km
The first organised race of the year in most of these cities. Short, cold, and a reasonable way to make the resolution real before the second week of January.
Hypothermic Half Marathon
107 provinces · January 31, 2027 – February 28, 2027 · 21km, 10km, 5km
A half marathon in the worst month of the year, which is the entire point. Good winter training company if you are building toward a spring goal race.
Butterfly Run
93 provinces · September 6, 2026 – October 3, 2026 · 5km, 1km
Run and walked by families who have lost a pregnancy or an infant. Quieter than most start lines, and the 1K is there for people bringing children.
5 Peaks Trail Running Series
73 provinces · September 5, 2026 – October 3, 2026 · 3km, 1km, 21km
Canada's longest-running trail series, and the usual answer to "where do I start with trail racing" — every event offers a short course alongside the long one.
Kicking PancreAS 5K
76 provinces · September 12, 2026 – November 29, 2026 · 5km, 2km
One event per province, walked as much as it is run. Small fields, which makes it an easy first organised 5K if you have never done one.
The 5K Foam Fest
73 provinces · August 22, 2026 – July 24, 2027 · 5km
Twenty-odd obstacles, a lot of foam, and no interest in your finish time. Closer to a day out than a race, which is why it fills with first-timers.
Brita Night Run
43 provinces · September 11, 2026 – September 25, 2026 · 10km, 5km
Starts after dark, which changes a familiar city route more than you would expect. Bring or wear something reflective even though the course is lit.
