Road versus trail

Across 5K, 10K and half-marathon entries in Ontario, road races run a median of $61.59 and trail races $67.60. Trail runs about 10% dearer here at the same distances β€” smaller fields and land-use permits are the usual reason.

How this was counted

Every price is a single entry option on a real race's registration page β€” not an event-level average, which is what makes a marathon look like it costs $50 because the same weekend sells a $30 kids' run. Team relays, volunteer rows, merchandise and parking are excluded; the platform's mandatory charges are included, because that is what you actually pay.

Races without a confirmed next date are left out entirely: their listed prices come from last year's page and would quietly drag the numbers down. Prices last read August 24, 2026.
