Winter races in Canada (2026–2027)

Somewhere between the resolution run and the hypothermic half is a whole racing season most runners pretend doesn't exist. It does: 92 races are on the calendar between December and the end of March — snowshoe races, polar bear runs, frozen-lake loops and defiantly normal road races that simply refuse to acknowledge the windchill. This list is generated from live data and refreshes daily as organizers announce dates.

Why race in winter at all

Three honest reasons. Winter races keep a training block alive when motivation is at its annual minimum — a February race on the calendar gets you out the door in January. They're cheap and low-stakes, so they're perfect for practicing race-day logistics before the spring goal race. And the people who show up to a -15° start line are, without exception, the most entertaining people in running.

Dress like it's ten degrees warmer than it is, put traction on your shoes if the course is icy, and check the race page the night before — winter races reschedule for storms more than any other season, and date changes flow into the site nightly.
